MicroSave continues to deliver an extraordinary range of training and technical assistance services across an extraordinary range of geographies across Asia and Africa … and more recently into Latin America. MicroSave’s work supporting the development of branchless banking continues to expand, and in the last month alone, we have worked in Colombia, India, Kenya, Papua New Guinea and South Africa on: - strategy development;
- agent network development, monitoring and management;
- partnership service agreements;
- market research to understand customer and agent needs;
- agents’ value proposition and liquidity management strategy; and
- product development, pricing and pilot-testing.
In India, MicroSave also coordinates the Banking Correspondent Network Managers’ Forum and is planning two large conferences with the College of Agricultural Banking (July 29/30th) and Clarion Events (September 26-29th) to further understanding and rollout of branchless banking in India and South Asia.
MicroSave’s work supporting the development of a robust, client-focused and double bottom-line microfinance industry also continues, and we have we have worked on: - social performance management with institutions in India, Philippines and Sri Lanka;
- training on a wide variety of the key building blocks for effective microfinance in Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Uganda;
- savings product development in India, Kenya and the Philippines;
- institutional assessment/due diligence in India, Indonesia and the Philippines;
- work to develop and rollout financial services for youth in Indonesia, Kenya and Uganda; and
- research into agents, remittances and the relative risk to poor people’s savings in India.
Finally, MicroSave’s work on the financing of water and sanitation has expanded significantly in the recent past with assignments in India, Kenya and Tanzania already underway, and others in the pipeline. |
