Graham A.N. Wright helped design and establish the MicroSave programme and is currently Programme Director for India. Graham pioneered much of the core of market-led approach used by MicroSave – in particular the Market Research for MicroFinance tools. He has had a career of two decades of development experience under pinned by five years of experience in management consultancy, training and audit with a leading accounting firm in Europe. He is a reformed Chartered Accountant. More
Graham has provided technical assistance to a variety of microfinance service organisations in Bangladesh, India, the Philippines and throughout Africa. He helped develop, test and implement a sustainable rural savings and credit programme for BURO, now an influential microfinance institution in Bangladesh. He provided long-term technical assistance to develop a rural finance system, using self-help “Savings and Loan Groups” linked to strong cooperatives in a remote mountainous area of the Philippines. He has also worked on training, systems design, research and evaluation for the usual alphabet soup of donors.
Graham has authored over 14 training toolkits and 25 papers, including a book entitled “MicroFinance Systems: Designing Quality Financial Services for the Poor” (University Press Ltd, Dhaka and Zed Books, London and New York, 2000). He was also chair of the CGAP Savings Mobilisation Working and a member of the Product Development Groups and is a Research Associate at the Institute of Development Policy and Management, University of Manchester, UK.

David Cracknell is the Programme Director for Africa and has extensive experience of helping MFIs and commercial banks in Eastern and Southern Africa to move onto a market-led approach to microfinance. He has played a key role in the development of MicroSave's training toolkits and authored many papers on topics including e-banking, delivering savings services, costing and pricing etc. More
David has with nearly two decades experience in microfinance, after a career in accountancy. He has experience in design, monitoring, and evaluation of microfinance programmes, including networks and capacity building initiatives. He has particular interest in client focused product development and the institutional changes necessary to achieve this as well as e-banking. David formerly worked in Bangladesh managing DFID's Enterprise Development Programme, which comprised microfinance (focused on some of the leading MFIS in Bangladesh) and business development services (including an export marketing project, sub-sector based approaches within BRAC, and business and vocational training programme). David started his post-accountancy career in Sri Lanka employed by a large microfinance Institution.

Manoj K Sharma is a development finance and SME specialist with nearly two decades of experience, and coordinates the MicroSave India operations. During his time at SIDBI, Manoj was part of the SME financing team which negotiated a USD 225 million assistance package with a consortium led by the World Bank and comprising of DFID, KfW and GTZ. Manoj was responsible for the fund and programme management of the TA sub-component of USD 22 million for conceptualising and operationalising developmental activities in clusters. Manoj also worked extensively to conceptualise and implement programmes for promotion of micro enterprises and creation of livelihood opportunities in rural areas. Currently the programme is underway in more than 65 geographical locations in India and has led to promotion of more than 17,500 enterprises. More
As part of his responsibilities at MicroSave, he is involved in projects for down scaling commercial banks to develop sustainable savings products for the low end market. He has been instrumental in enhancing acceptance of loan portfolio audit of MFIs as a tool for banks to base their lending /investment decisions as well as the individual lending toolkit. Manoj has also conducted extensive work on strategic business planning for MFIs in India as well as process mapping/analysis to improve the efficiency and decrease the risk of their operations. At MicroSave, Manoj has worked extensively on strategic business planning, developing and implementing individual lending programmes; pilot-testing; loan portfolio audits and market research as well as governance and legal issues for MFIs. His areas of interest include assistance to start-up microfinance institutions, product development, market research and urban microfinance.

Henry Sempangi is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants in UK (FCCA) and he also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting and currently manages MicroSave’s Uganda Office. Henry has extensive experience in microfinance development – both on the demand- and supply-side - throughout the East/South African region. More
Henry has undertaken a number of short-term evaluation assignments in East and Southern Africa as well as Bangladesh and has provided valuable technical input especially on the programme design, costing, staff incentives and other finance related issues. He has extensive experience in market research, strategic marketing, process mapping and the evaluation of NGO microfinance programmes, training and institutional assessment. He combines strong interpersonal and technical skills and has excelled as a trainer and mentor. He also has a wealth of experience in finance systems development and implementation for NGOs having worked as an accountant and auditor for an international NGO in Uganda for a period of four years.

Brett Hudson Matthews earned his MBA (finance) from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and his MA (international development) at the University of Toronto. Brett has 16 years of experience in banking and microfinance. Since 2002 Brett has consulted independently for various clients including MEDA, DAI, CARE and Oikocredit. From 2003-06 he served as technical advisor to the Canadian Co-operative Association in the development of the Cambodian Community Finance Network (CCFiN), a network that grew under his leadership to encompass one thousand villages and 58,000 retail members. As product development manager at Metro Credit Union Brett launched several projects with multi-million dollar impacts: the mutual fund sales division, a restructuring of the car loan portfolio and the enterprise and non-profit services offerings. From 2000-02 he launched Oxfam America’s community finance program, and negotiated the scale-up of TYM, a microcredit institution in Vietnam. He has published numerous technical papers on community-based microfinance and strategies for expanding the frontiers of financial inclusion.
At MicroSave Brett leads the Southern Zone team, acts as mentor to younger staff, and has been responsible for the coordinating the launch the ‘MFI Out of a Box’ – a ‘how to’ guide for Indian MFIs from start-up to exponential, market-led growth.

Chris Linder has over 12 years of experience in microfinance, community development finance, SME development and commercial banking with expertise in conducting due diligence/financial analyses, improving borrower preparedness, structuring transactions and providing technical assistance to practitioners. More
Prior to joining MicroSave, he was a Senior Analyst and Researcher at AZMJ, LLC, assisting in the implementation of microfinance-related contracts, particularly in social performance and due diligence analyses of MFIs. From 2002-2008, he served in different team and management roles at Capital Link, #providing technical assistance to US-based, non-profit health centers in planning and obtaining debt financing for capital projects. Chris also served as a Senior Financial Analyst for Fleet Bank’s (cka Bank of America) non-profit lending group for two years and spent three years as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa, acting as advisor to several individual entrepreneurs, credit unions, and microfinance institutions. Chris has an MBA from the Olin School of Business, Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business Administration from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.
Based in Hyderabad, Chris assists the management team in the planning and implementation of both the Action Research Partner (ARP) and training/practice-oriented research programs in the Southern Zone. He also helps in developing management and leadership potential within the existing MicroSave team. His areas of interest includes equity valuation toolkit (forthcoming), planning, conducting and monitoring pilot-tests, savings and delinquency management for group-based MFIs.

Trevor Mugwang’a focuses primarily on the supply side activities, providing advice and assistance on risk management, credit systems, costing and pricing of financial services as well as planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating product pilot tests and rollouts. He also carries out analysis and review activities with respect to financial management and planning, marketing as well as policies and procedures. More
Trevor holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce and Masters degree in Finance and Accountancy. Prior to joining MicroSave, in August 2003,Trevor initially worked for two years in Kenya as financial analyst and credit officer for a microfinance institution and four years as head of finance at a commercial bank, gaining a broad range of experience in financial strategy, planning, management and internal control.

Madhurantika Moulick has undertaken multiple technical assistance and training assignments in process mapping, market research for microfinance, costing and pricing, product marketing, customer service, pilot testing, product roll out, risk analysis and management, loan portfolio audit, strategic business planning and strategic marketing in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Tanzania, South Africa, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and India. She has developed her skills in training delivery, presentations, advanced excel and report writing through her assignments in a variety of financial institutions – NGOs, MFIs and commercial banks. Madhurantika has an MA in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India, and MA in Urban and Rural Sociology from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. She has worked as the Programme Associate for CARE India’s microfinance project - Credit and Savings for Household Enterprises (CASHE) and with other NGOs in India and Bangladesh in the areas of capacity building, strategic management and organisational development.
Madhurantika is at the forefront of MicroSave’s training and technical assistance delivery in India, and has played a key role in the development of MicroSave toolkits on process mapping; human resource management, governance and strategic marketing. She has also led teams to conduct work on market research, product development and pilot-testing, process improvement, human resource management systems etc. She is currently heading the Knowledge Management and Training department, but continues to be very actively involved providing training and technical assistance to partner banks and MFIs.

He initially worked with World Vision International - Uganda, first as a Credit Officer and later as Credit Coordinator. As a Lead Trainer with ACDI/VOCA he was involved in curriculum development and training in Microfinance Best Practices and Loan Tracking with the Cotton Sub-sector Development Program under Bank of Uganda and Farming as a Business for smallholder farmers in both Uganda and Malawi.

Raj Kumar is a Post Graduate diploma holder in Rural Management from IRMA with over nine years of work experience. As a programme leader at SRIJAN, he was leading four large rural development projects in the economically and socially backward districts and was managing 5 teams consisting of 27 professionals in the area of agri-based livelihoods, Microfinance and Institutional Development. He helped develop SafalFin for microfinance operations, and channelled over Rs.2 crore livelihood finance from Deewan Foundation, UK through the SHGs promoted by SRIJAN across 8 locations in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Also, introduced a ‘wheat credit line’ for SHG members where wheat is purchased and stored in warehouses in line with demand of members to address the issue of food security. As the Assistant Manager of National Housing Bank he worked across the project finance and refinance departments.
Since joining MicroSave Raj has played an instrumental role in supporting small and growing MFIs in the north and north east of India – helping them with rapid institutional assessment, strategic business planning, process mapping and operations improvement. His areas of interest are strategic business planning, costing and pricing of financial services, basic financial management and ratio analysis, and quantitative market research methods.

B. Anjaneyulu is a graduate in General and Advance Management. He has a career of nearly two decades, with rich experience at various levels within the development sector. Over the years he has worked at mid and senior management levels in different organisations involved in livelihood promotion and microfinance. He has been involved in supporting a variety of organisations through training, technical support and consultancy services. More
He has developed tools and models for assessing capacities of Self Help Groups, and authored several papers on Self Help Groups. He has done extensive work in the areas of federating SHGs and in community ownership of developmental initiatives. His area of interest lies in supporting client-owned institutions and providing capacity building inputs to all types of MFIs to improve management systems and practices.
Anjaneyulu has worked on market research for microfinance, process mapping, rapid institutional assessment, pilot-testing, and strategic business planning for a wide variety of MicroSave-supported MFIs across India. Recently he spearheaded work on the development of MFI Out Of A Box for SHG-based MFIs including filming of the key processes. Anjan has experience of working with MicroSave in India, Kenya and the Philippines.
